Director of Secondary Math and Science
The Director of Secondary Math and Science will provide hands-on leadership to achieve and maintain standards of excellence in the curriculum and instruction in math and science.
Qualifications:
- Licensed, or eligible for licensure as a Supervisor/Director by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
- Minimum of five (5) years teaching experience
- Master’s Degree in Education or a related field
- Experience in supervision, evaluation, and curriculum development
Reports to:
Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum Instruction and Assessment
Major Responsibilities:
- Assist principals in the recruiting, interviewing, screening, and recommending of qualified candidates for professional positions
- Evaluate staff in assigned curricular areas
- Mentor and coach staff in assigned curricular areas
- Facilitate on-going curriculum mapping and alignment with Massachusetts Common Core Standards
- Facilitate vertical alignment of curriculum
- Facilitate choice of curriculum materials
- Develop the budget for the departments in consultation with the principals
- Design and/or procure professional development for faculty as needed, working in collaboration with the principals and assistant superintendent
- Serve as a member of the district leadership team
- Serve as a member of the Instructional Leadership Teams at the middle and high schools
- Schedule and facilitate monthly after school meetings focused on assigned curricular areas
- Analyze and present data, to evaluate program effectiveness and student achievement, in user friendly formats
- Support on-going adoption of technology in a blended learning environment
- Research, write and coordinate grants related to assigned curricular areas
- Other duties as assigned

Summer Employment Opportunites
The Facilities Department of the Hudson Public Schools District is currently accepting applications for temporary part-time employment for Summer 2012 opportunities. Applicants must be dependable, physically fit and able to lift 35 pounds to perform light to medium custodial activities, general maintenance and building repairs. They must be capable of working in a group setting and carrying out instructions with minimal supervision.
Applications are available at the reception desk HPS Administration building, 155 Apsley Street Hudson, MA 01749. Applicants should be 16 years or older. Those applicants under the age of 17 must have a work permit. Hudson residents can obtain a work permit at the High School Guidance Office by contacting Ms. Nola Ahearn at 978-567-6250 ext. 3127.
Work will begin the Monday following the close of school currently scheduled for June 15th and will end on or about August 28th, 2012.
The deadline for applications is March 28, 2012.
