Farley Elementary School Principal Finalists Named

The Camela A. Farley Elementary School Principal Selection Committee, chaired by Director of Elementary Education, Karen Martin, interviewed eleven, extremely, qualified candidates for the position. The search committee is moving four finalists on to Superintendent Dr. Jodi Fortuna.

The four finalists are Veronica Learned of Waltham, MA, Melissa Provost of Rochdale, MA, Michele Sharpe of Plainville, MA, and James Stoddard of Harvard, MA.

Veronica Learned has served as the Assistant Principal at the Whittemore Elementary School in Waltham Public Schools for two years. In Forsyth County in Georgia, she served as an Interim Assistant Principal, Instructional Coach/Lead Teacher, Literacy Coach, Reading Specialist, and classroom teacher from 2005-2012. Prior to moving to Georgia, Ms. Learned was a classroom teacher in the Marlborough Public Schools from 1999-2005. She has a Masters of School Administration from Kennesaw State University, Master of Science in Education from University of New England, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Vermont.

Melissa Provost has been an Assistant Principal for two elementary schools in the Leicester Public Schools since 2010. She served as the Director of K-6 Director of Mathematics in the Southbridge Public Schools from 2009-2010. In the Quaboag Regional School District, she completed her administrative practicum, served as a 5th-6th grade classroom teacher, and Title I teacher. Ms. Provost has a Master of Education from Notheastern University in Elementary Administration, a Master of Education from Framingham State, and a Bachelor of Education from Anna Maria College.

Michelle Sharpe has been a Principal at the Northern Elementary School in the Lincoln School District in Rhode Island since 2011. She also served as a principal at the Walker Elementary School in Taunton Public Schools from 2007-2010. She has served as a guidance counselor in the North Brookfield School District, Assistant Principal at the Douglas Intermediate School, and was a physical education teacher in the Norfolk School System. MS. Sharpe has a Master of School Administration from Cambridge College, Bachelor of Education from Bridgewater State College, and a Bachelor of Arts from Framingham State College. 

James Stoddard has been an Assistant Principal at the Runkle School in the Brookline Public Schools since 2008. In the Brookline Public Schools Mr. Stoddard has been a mathematics teacher, Math League Coordinator, New Teacher Mentor and Math Specialist from 1998-2008. He was a mathematics teacher at the Fenn School in Concord, MA from 1993-1998. Mr. Stoddard has Certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Leadership from Simmons College, a Master of Education from Lesley College, and a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University.

A forum for the public to meet four finalists will be held on Tuesday, July 22nd, at 6:30 p.m. at  the Hudson Administration Building. Parents, staff, and community are invited to attend, ask questions, and provide feedback on the finalists.

Finalists are interviewing with Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jodi Fortuna on Thursday, July 24, 2014.  

Dr. Fortuna hopes to announce the name of the next Camela A. Farley Elementary School on or before Monday, July 28th, 2014.
