There will be school tomorrow, January 29, 2015. The DPW and school facilities staff have been working tirelessly to be able to have roads, parking lots and school perimeters cleared so that we could have school tomorrow.
I am sure that it goes without saying that there is an excessive volume of snow as a result of the Blizzard of 2015. Given the unprecedented nature of this storm and the volume of snow, the DPW has been able to clear approximately 10% of the Town’s sidewalks near the schools. This fact, combined with the higher than normal snowbanks and narrowed streets, raises some concerns for our walkers tomorrow.
The nature of these concerns is such that they would not be abated by a 2- hour delay. In an attempt to diminish some of these concerns for tomorrow only, January 29th, we will be extending our drop-off window at each building. Students can be dropped off at the High School beginning at 7:00 a.m., Quinn Middle School at 7:15 a.m., and all three elementary schools at 7:45 a.m.
Please plan accordingly. We encourage you to carpool with your friends and neighbors to help decrease the amount of traffic on narrowed streets. As always, the final decision about whether conditions are safe enough for your child to walk or wait for the bus, at their assigned stop, rests with the family. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing everyone back in school tomorrow.
