MetroWest Towns Win Prevention & Wellness Grant

A consortium of MetroWest communities will share in a grant under the state's new Prevention & Wellness Trust Fund. The grant, led by the Town of Hudson, will coordinate a regional partnership between HudsonMarlboroughFramingham and Northborough that will bring evidence-based interventions to address tobacco use, hypertension, pediatric asthma and falls among elders.  


Beyond the four municipal health departments, the grant also includes the Central MA Area Health Education Center, Edward M. Kennedy Community Health CenterJSI Research & Training Institute, Latino Health Insurance ProgramMetroWest Medical Center and MetroWest and Central Massachusetts YMCAs. 

 As this project builds on the foundation's long held goal to develop more regional approaches to public health issues in MetroWest, the foundation will be providing 10% matching funds for the project.  

 And this just in...The MetroWest Moves communities of Hudson, Marlborough and Framingham will also share in a recently awarded state grant to plan and promote "complete streets" policies thereby moving these communities to the forefront in the statewide effort to promote walking and biking.
