A consortium of
MetroWest communities will share in a grant under the state's new Prevention
& Wellness Trust Fund. The grant, led by the Town of Hudson, will
coordinate a regional partnership between Hudson, Marlborough, Framingham and Northborough that
will bring evidence-based interventions to address tobacco use, hypertension,
pediatric asthma and falls among elders.
Beyond the four
municipal health departments, the grant also includes the Central MA Area Health Education
M. Kennedy Community Health Center, JSI Research & Training
Health Insurance Program, MetroWest Medical Center and MetroWest and Central Massachusetts
As this project builds
on the foundation's long held goal to develop more regional approaches to
public health issues in MetroWest, the foundation will be providing 10%
matching funds for the project.
this just in...The MetroWest Moves communities
Marlborough and Framingham
will also share in a recently awarded state grant to plan and promote
"complete streets" policies thereby moving these communities to the
forefront in the statewide effort to promote walking and biking.
