Three HHS seniors and one junior have just learned that they have made it into the top ten finalists for the 92.5 "the river" Independent Radio "Music Matters" contest.
The Indie/Folk Rock Band "BROADREACH" that recently performed at several HHS rallies (Andrew Nugent, lead vocals & guitar; Taylor Benson, keyboard; Edward Andrews, percussion; and Buren Andrews, guitars & bass) submitted an original song, "Here to Stay" to the radio station's contest which ran in the month of March. This is the recording which earned Bennett Emery the 2015 National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Student Award for Excellence in Audio Engineering / Sound Design recently announced by Lynda Chilton, HUD TV Media teacher.
The students have a chance to win $1000.00 for the HHS music department from the Salem Five Charitable Foundation, a chance to record a track in the famous River Music Hall, have their song played on 92.5 and open for a national recording artist at RiverFEAST!
The winners will be announced on Friday, June 5th.
