Hudson Chooses Dr. Marco Rodrigues as New Superintendent to Lead District

Hudson: The Hudson School Committee announced at last night’s meeting that they have appointed Dr. Marco Rodrigues from Worcester Public Schools as the next Superintendent of Schools for the Hudson Public School District.  After an extensive 5 month process, the Committee came to a decision following recent visits to the finalists’ schools and interviews with each finalist.

“We are excited to be offering Dr. Rodrigues the opportunity to come to Hudson and use his considerable skills to help us continue to move forward and provide the best education for all our students.  I would like to thank all of the people in the community who helped us reach this decision, specifically those on the screening committee, those who offered us feedback and the district staff who were forthcoming and supportive throughout the entire process.  It speaks to the strength of the Hudson community, of which I am very proud to belong."  Michele Tousignant Dufour, School Committee Chair

Dr. Marco Rodrigues holds an Ed D in Education Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, as well as Masters of Arts in Special Ed from Assumption College.  He received a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Worcester State University.  He is currently the Chief Academic Officer for Worcester Public Schools.  He has served as Interim Superintendent for Worcester Public Schools along with prior experience with Educational Leadership and Special Education.  Dr. Rodrigues has a clear vision and direction focused on success for all students.

“I am honored to become the educational leader in Hudson and to be part of this great community. I look forward to working with the members of the Hudson Public Schools and the community at-large to enhance the educational opportunities for all students.“  Dr. Marco Rodrigues

The Hudson School Committee was committed to an extensive superintendent search process.  It was important that throughout the process they kept the parents, staff and community updated with information on the process while soliciting feedback at all stages of the search through feedback forums and online feedback surveys.  The Committee hired the Massachusetts Association of School Committees to provide input during the process and help determine what characteristics were important to the District in their next Superintendent.  The Committee was seeking a dynamic, energetic leader with experience in developing effective relationships, success in parent and community engagement, budgetary knowledge, improving and maintaining high academic achievement. Knowledge of Special Education programming and other qualities in leadership and collaboration were welcome.  More than 40 applicants applied for the position.
