Dear Forest Avenue Families,
Welcome to the 2010/2011 school year. Once again this summer our staff has been hard at work preparing for another fun filled year of learning. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our teachers, custodians, and Mrs. Walker for all that they do to make the opening of school a success. It is exciting to reunite with our returning students and welcome all of our newest members to the Forest Avenue Family!
I also look forward to meeting and working with all of the parents. This year our Open House will take place on the evening of Thursday September 23rd. On this night you will have an opportunity to visit your son/daughter’s classroom. Following classroom visits, I will be making a brief presentation in the cafeteria along with our Home & School Association President. Elections for School Council will also be held on this night. If you are looking for a smaller, more personal opportunity to visit please join me on the morning of September 17th between 7:30 and 8:30am for the first Principal’s Coffee.
With the start of a new year comes the invitation for parent involvement at Forest Avenue. One great way to get involved is to participate in our Home & School Association. This organization does tremendous work fundraising for our school community. With an emphasis on creating family fun events, last year the organization hosted such activities as Family Dinner Night, the Holiday Fair, and Bingo Night. Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month at 6:45pm in our school library; with the first meeting taking place on September 15th. I urge you to consider taking part in this opportunity to get involved.
I hope that you and your children have a great start to the school year!
Sincerely,
David Champigny
