May News from the Nurse

Now that spring has sprung so too have the bugs, especially ticks.  It is a good practice to check your child after they come in from playing outside, especially if you live near woods.  For more information on ticks or Lyme disease please check out the nursing section on Forest Ave’s web site.

Just a reminder to send in your child’s grade 4 physical (or most recent one); notice regarding this was sent out last month.  Thanks to those that have done so already.

The grade 5 puberty talk will be taking place in May.  Look for notices to be sent home when a date has been determined.

I will be packing up the grade 5 health records and sending them up to JFK before the school year ends. If your child will be attending a different middle school please let me know and I will not include their record.
As the temperature rises make sure your child has a water bottle at school to keep themselves hydrated.
To all the grade 5 students I wish you all luck as you move forward to middle school. I hope all have a safe and wonderful summer and see you back at Forest Ave in September.
We are always looking for RN’s who would be interested in subbing in our Health offices. If interested please contact Jenny Gormley at 978-567-6116 or at jmgormley@hudson.k12.ma.us
