Under Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 71, section 59C(as added by section 53 of Chapter 71 of the Acts of 1993), each school in the Commonwealth is required to establish a school council.

The council is a representative, school building-based committee composed of the principal, parents, teachers, and community members.

The main areas of responsibility for school councils are:

Adopting educational goals for the school that are consistent with local educational policies and statewide student performance standards.

Identifying the educational needs of students attending the school.

Reviewing the annual school building budget.

Formulating a school improvement plan.

The School Council meets the second Wednesday of every month beginning at 2:30. This is an open meeting all are welcome.
