Booster Seats
Booster seats are now required by law to be used for any child up to 8 years old OR 57”. This law passed in July in Massachusetts. Also, all children under 12 should always ride in the back seat. Massachusetts law requires everyone to wear a seatbelt.
Physical Documentation
We are required to get documentation that a student has had a physical exam from their MD at least every few years. Hudson has chosen kindergarten, grades 4, 7 and 10 to fulfill this requirement. I will need a copy of a physical exam for all 4th grade students that were done within the last 12 months. If your child at any age/grade has a physical exam or any immunizations, please send in a copy for their school health record.
Screening
Vision and hearing screening is completed. If your child had a problem with either, I will send home a notice and ask you to follow up with your MD. The teachers are working with the students to encourage healthy snack choices. I would ask that you try to send in a healthy snack every day. Good choices are dairy products, such as yogurt, cheese sticks or milk. Other things might include cut up fruits, vegetables, cheese and crackers or pretzels.
Strep Throat
We have already seen a number of children with strep throat. If your child gets strep throat, they must be on antibiotics at least 24 hrs. before they can return to school. Also if they have a fever above 100 degrees or have been vomiting in the last 12 hours, they need to be kept home.
