Math Department Goal

While building on student’s prior knowledge and skills we will challenge students to develop multiple approaches to solving problems and cultivate the critical thinking skills, self-reliance, and intellectual curiosity required to be mathematically literate citizens and to be productive contributors to mathematically focused careers.

Program Description

All learners have a growth-mindset and understand with time, effort and effective strategies they can work effectively and independently as mathematicians.

K-4 Math Goals:

  • Interpret and persevere in solving complex problems using strategic thinking and tools.
  • Express appropriate mathematical reasoning by constructing viable arguments.
  • Apply mathematical knowledge to analyze and model mathematical relationships.
   Middle School

Students at Quinn Middle School will research, estimate, predict, measure, compute, visually represent and analyze solutions to real world problems by utilizing previous knowledge, new math skills and technology.

5-7 Math Goals:

  • Attend to precision and use precise language in explaining mathematical reasoning.
  • Make sense of problems and use abstract and quantitative reasoning to persevere in solving them.
  • Improve math fluency skills to increase comfort in using the language of math.
   High School

Students will take four high school math courses to be college and career ready in math. Our leveled curriculum ensures students learn the content in a way that is developmentally appropriate. Students will graduate from Hudson High School with the math content knowledge and skills to be successful in any area of study or career that involves mathematical thinking.

8-12 Math Goals:
  • Develop self-reliance to persevere in solving problems.
  • Construct explanations and arguments to contribute to mathematical discussions.
  • Hone mathematical modeling and reasoning skills.
